“Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power.”
Last month I asked my four year old grand daughter what I should wear to an event we were attending. “Mimi you can wear whatever you want the “choice” is yours.” I chose to wear what I wanted. It felt good.
We can’t always choose to do what we want for many reasons. What if the choice is destructive to our selves or others? This is where discipline comes in, self or other imposed. It sometimes means pain, having to give up something? If I think I can get through life without pain, I will also not realize joy. It’s my choice
Self-discipline is the ability to get yourself to take action regardless of your emotional state. Self discipline is self deprivation without complaining because you are mature enough to see the greater good that will come. Self discipline is a muscle. It improves with use. Start where you are. One step at a time. Make it an act of courage and choice.
